Fusion Bistro Sushi and Sake Bar Now Open at Universal Orlando CityWalk
Those that know me, know that I love my sushi! I’ve talked about it on The Disney Food Blog and sampled it on camera in an episode of Travel with Rick. This week I discovered a new place to nosh sushi in Orlando.
As luck would have it… I happened to be at the Universal Orlando Resort for a taping of America’s Got Talent. Not knowing that I would be in the taping for over four hours, I skipped out on breakfast hoping to grab lunch soon after the show ended. The end couldn’t come soon enough and by 4 p.m. I was ready to gnaw my arm of. My friends decided that we would grab a quick bite at Moe’s Southwest Grill on the second floor of CityWalk. As we headed up the escalator (I was hanging on for dear life so as not to swoon from the lack of nourishment that day) I spotted the sign over near the Cineplex…”SUSHI & SAKE”!!!
That was it! Moe was just gonna have to wait. The Fusion Bistro is an interesting concept…a walk-up counter service style sushi restaurant. My eyes scanned the menu board as my stomach rumbled…spicy…what’s not going to be spicy? I settled on my all time favorite which is eel and ordered the Dancing Eel Roll and a plain jane California Roll.
Now, I’ve eaten sushi at Nobu and The California Grill (which boasts one of the world’s best sushi chefs) and have NEVER had sushi at a counter service restaurant so I wasn’t expecting much, but I have to say that it was pretty good. I was happy that each roll contained eight pieces.
I was a tad bit disappointed that there was nothing on the outside of the California Roll. I understand that the restaurant is open to the Florida heat and that masago might not have been an option but maybe a sesame seed instead, just for extra texture would have been nice.
I have not an ill word to say about the Dancing Eel Roll. It was perfect! The server even threw in an extra container of eel sauce for me without my asking. Brownie Points to her!
I ended up shelling out around $15 for these two rolls without purchasing a drink. I’m a Southern Gal and I like my sweet tea so Moe’s won the beverage showdown that day. I’d say it was a good value, however…I am bummed that I won’t be able to pop back in to eat here casually again as parking is $14 during the day at Universal Orlando. But….if you are already inside of the Resort Complex and are hungry for sushi, give Fusion Bistro a try. I think you’ll like it.
Until Next Time,

P.S. Where’s your favorite spot to grab Sushi in the Orlando area? Leave me a comment below and I will try and check it out. If you’re not a sushi fan..then where is your favorite place to dine while here?
